Choose where to look, then move through time
Use your phone's location, select a point on the map, or search for a place by name. Recenter the view when you need a new reference point. The interactive timeline lets you review upcoming hours, with a forecast view of up to 72 hours where data is available.
Waves and sea state
Review available wave height, period and direction. Marine data availability varies by provider and location.
The wider weather picture
Check precipitation, cloud cover and other available weather values alongside the wind and marine forecast.
Provider choice and previously saved forecasts
The app offers Open-Meteo and MET Norway provider options. Change the provider to explore its available forecast for your location; coverage and marine values can differ.
Previously fetched forecasts are cached on the device by provider and location. If a network request fails and saved data exists, SailAlign can show that cached forecast with a network warning. A saved forecast describes the data downloaded earlier; it is not a new offline weather update.
The interface presents hour-by-hour predictions. Refreshing checks the stored data's freshness and fetches new data when needed and online. This does not guarantee a new provider forecast every hour.
Use the forecast before your next departure
For a coastal passage, compare departure and later hours at the places you plan to visit. For training or racing, check wind direction, gusts and waves alongside the latest available maritime warnings. Save your completed sail in the logbook and review the route afterwards.
