This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and mobile application (collectively, the "Service").

2.1 Information You Provide

We collect information that you voluntarily provide when using our Service, including:

• Profile information (sailing experience, certifications)
• Contact information when using our contact form
• Uploaded files and documents (such as PDFs, images, regatta logos, and other materials shared via the Notice Board or event pages)

Uploaded files and documents may be stored on our servers for the purpose of sharing information with regatta participants and other authorized users.

2.2 Automatically Collected Information

When you use our Service, we automatically collect certain information, including:

• Device information (device type, operating system)
• Log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited)
• Location data (with your permission)
• Usage data (features used, interaction patterns)

2.3 Location Data

With your explicit permission, SailAlign may collect and process location data to enable features such as start line positioning, distance calculations, route tracking, and real-time location sharing between authorized race committee members.

Location data is only shared with other users when required for core functionality and according to your role and permissions within a regatta.

2.4 Push Notifications

If you choose to enable push notifications, we may collect and store a device notification token in order to deliver service-related messages, such as regatta updates, race notifications, and Notice Board announcements.

You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.

• Process your transactions
• Send service-related communications

8. Account and Data Deletion

You can permanently delete your SailAlign account and the personal data associated with it from within the SailAlign application:

1. Sign in to SailAlign.
2. Open Settings.
3. Select Delete account.
4. Confirm the permanent deletion.

If you no longer have access to the application, you can request account deletion by emailing support [at] sailalign [dot] com from the email address associated with your SailAlign account. Use SailAlign account deletion as the subject. You may also submit the request through our support form. We may ask you to verify account ownership before completing the request.

Data deleted with your account

Completing account deletion removes the following data from our active systems:

• Account credentials, email address, profile information, and notification tokens
• Personal logbook entries, vessels, licences, recorded tracks, and location history
• Checklists, maintenance records, uploaded photos, files, and documents
• Other private content associated with the account

Records that form part of a shared regatta or race record may be retained only where necessary to preserve that shared record. Where retained, they are removed from the deleted account or anonymized where reasonably possible.

Retention after deletion

We do not keep a deleted account active or use account data after deletion. Residual copies may remain temporarily in restricted routine backups until those backups are overwritten under our normal backup rotation. Limited records may be retained for security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or legal-compliance purposes only for as long as the applicable purpose or legal obligation requires. After that period, the data is deleted or anonymized.

Deleting individual data without deleting your account

SailAlign also lets you delete individual items, including logbook entries, vessels, licences, tracks, checklists, maintenance records, and regattas you are permitted to manage, without deleting your entire account.
